I guess publishers just buy these pictures and use them. I would buy exclusive rights if I were them, but apparently not. I don't like it when two books have the same/similar cover.
ReplyDeleteI think occasionally publishers will buy the rights, but usually they just don't bother. I've even seen the same cover on two different books from the same publisher.
DeleteI think it's kind of cool to be able to spot similarities. :) But it could get confusing when searching for books if one only remembers the cover, not the title...
I love finding cover look alikes. One I've seen floating around lately is the picture for The Hedgewitch Queen and The Treachery of Beautiful Things. :)
